The Life in Finland exhibition was curated by Anna Kortelainen and Pekka Toivanen, and was produced by the Finnish Institute in Estonia. Life in Finland is based on the 100 Objects from Finland exhibition, which toured Helsinki, Tallinn, Oslo, Madrid, and Riga, in 2017 and 2018. The original online exhibition is still available online at 100objects.fi.

Anna Kortelainen

Anna Kortelainen is an author and art historian from Helsinki. She has previously authored both fiction and nonfiction work, including exhibition scripts, narrative concerts, and TV programmes. The object of her year of birth is an ABC book called Aikamme aapinen by Kirsi Kunnas.

Pekka Toivanen

Designer Pekka Toivanen has participated in creating various exhibitions and spaces, and he works as the director of Design Studio Muotohiomo in Helsinki. The hit product of his childhood was the Sarvispulkka sledge from 1967which used to carry him as a baby during family ski trips on the ice of the archipelago of Rymättylä

The Finnish Institute in Estonia was founded in 1991, which was the year that saw the plastic sauna whisk, the first GSM network in the world (by the Finnish Radiolinja), and President Mauno Koivisto. Since then, the Institute has promoted Finnish-Estonian cultural and linguistic cooperations, and strengthened connections between various fields of arts, education, and society.
